Baltimore's interlocking rhythm engine — live in Buffalo.
Born from Baltimore's experimental underground — the same soil as Lungfish and Matmos — Horse Lords have spent sixteen years building one of the most relentless rhythmic forces in music today. Sam Haberman, Owen Gardner, Max Eilbacher, and Andrew Bernstein weave just intonation, process music, and global polyrhythm into compositions that feel both ancient and urgently present.
They've collaborated with Arnold Dreyblatt, interpreted Julius Eastman at Moers Festival, and channeled James Brown, Gulf-region sawt, Maryanne Amacher, and Fluxus-era rigor into a sound that's entirely their own. Live, it's a flattening of time — pattern upon pattern until the room disappears.

Martin Freeman
Buffalo-based electronic musician and instrument builder Martin Freeman creates live sets using synthesizers and custom-built electronic devices of his own design. His work explores layered rhythms, evolving textures, and the physical character of sound, often performing on instruments he has constructed specifically for live performance. Freeman's sets move between experimental electronics and minimalist structure, emphasizing transformation and spatial depth.

Concept
Groupwork's staging for this performance centers on light and space — the room tuned to Horse Lords' interlocking patterns in real time. Sound, light, and space operate as a single field rather than separate elements.
Spatial Experience
612 Fillmore Ave., Buffalo. Limited stadium seating is available; most of the room is dedicated to standing room. Listeners are encouraged to let their bodies respond to the rhythms. Light and staging extend the band's rhythmic language through the architecture of the space.
